ial.
The Groundwater Stewardship Program is a cooperative effort between Michigan Conservation Districts, the Michigan Department of Agriculture, Michigan State University Extension, and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.

Fifth Grade Conservation Education Program
Educating young people about the wise use and protection of natural resources is a Menominee Conservation District priority. Executive Director Mary Fleissner partners with Sheryl Schrot, 4-H Youth Programs to teach county fifth graders about natural resources.
The program is divided into four areas: SOIL, WATER, WILDLIFE and MICHIGAN FORESTS. The presentations teach the conservation message of the wise use and protection of natural resources. 100% participation of every school in the county, means this practical message reaches every fifth grader in the county.
The U.P. Whitetails Association, Menominee River Chapter is the proud sponsor of this education program. “Working together to educate Menominee County youth on the value of conserving, protecting and wisely using all natural resources.”

Conservation Poster Contest
Menominee Conservation District along with co-sponsor 4-H Youth Programs offers this contest to kids grades 1-6. The theme changes each year to reflect a different natural resource. The Conservation District provides everything a teacher needs to conduct the contest. Art is a fun way to introduce kids to natural resources so they can begin to foster an appreciation and respect for nature.

Natural Resource Assistance
Coming Soon…the Menominee Conservation District will offer a new service to landowners. This service will help landowners get the most out of the natural resources on their land. For a nominal fee, we’ll work directly with you to help you understand your land’s natural resource potential.
Many people have land in Menominee County but are not sure how to maximize the natural resource potential of the land. Perhaps you live elsewhere. You travel to your cottage to relax and enjoy nature. You don’t have time to do research and learn about all the resources on your property.
Perhaps you have questions: Should I cut down trees? Should I plant more? How do I get in touch with a consulting forester? How can I get pheasant to inhabit my land? Do I qualify for any cost share? We’ll help answer these and many other questions.
